Mwashuma Primary School is a public school in Taita Taveta County, Kenya. The school is located close to a wildlife sanctuary that has a museum that displays some of the World War 1 memorabilia. It receives CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) support from the neighbouring Taita Hills Safari Resort & Spa.

The football kits were sent to the school as part of the Football4Wildlife Program “Kick the Ball, Save Our Wildlife” project set up by Water4Wildlife Maasai Mara Foundation in partnership with the UEFA Foundation for Children. This school has a reputation for appreciating and protecting the wildlife in the region by instilling in the children the need to protect the environment through activities such as tree planting.

The school administration and the children were extremely grateful for all the support from the UEFA Foundation for Children. This generous support would help the disadvantaged children access the football kits, helping them in their training and football games and matches.

It is worth noting that the school faces challenges such as a lack of appropriate football fields and football kits. It was surprising that the children had never had balls for use in sporting activities. Our efforts to distribute the football materials indeed reap such positive rewards; it’s impossible not to see how much joy the game and all those involved can bring.
